Kanser Tedavisinde Eskiden Kullanılan Kemoterapi Dışı Onkolojik Tedaviler

Kanser, tarih boyunca insan sağlığını tehdit eden önemli bir hastalık olmuştur. Onkoloji, kanser ile ilgilenen bilim dalı olup, oldukça hızlı ve süreklilik arz eden bir değişim içinde bulunmaktadır. Günümüzdeki modern onkolojik tedavilere ulaşılana kadar, tarih boyunca kanser ile savaşmak için çeşitli yöntemler denenmiştir. Kitabın bu bölümünde, kanserin tarihçesinden, kansere bağlı gelişen semptomları rahatlatmaya yönelik kullanılan bitkisel tedavilerden, kanseri vücuttan uzaklaştırmaya yönelik yapılan lokal işlemlerden ve cerrahi yöntemlerden, kemoterapi, radyoterapi, nükleer maddeler, hedefe yönelik tedaviler ve immünoterapilerden bahsedilecektir. Geçmişte kullanılmış ancak yan etkileri, morbidite ve komplikasyonları nedeni ile günümüzde sadece sınırlı alanda uygulanan bu yöntemler, modern onkolojik tedavilerin geliştirilmesine zemin hazırlamışlardır.

Cancer has been a significant threat to human health throughout history. Oncology, the branch of science dealing with cancer, is undergoing rapid and continuous change. Various methods have been tried throughout history to combat cancer until the advent of modern oncological treatments. This chapter of the book will discuss the history of cancer, herbal treatments used to alleviate symptoms associated with cancer, local procedures and surgical methods aimed at removing cancer from the body, as well as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, nuclear substances, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies. Although these methods, which have been used in the past but are now limited in use due to their side effects, morbidity, and complications, they have paved the way for the development of modern oncological treatments.
