Unutulmuş Tedavi Yöntemi Psikoşirurji ve “Phineas Gage’ Vakasının Etkisi
Özet
Psikoşirurji, nöroşirürjide 20 yüzyılda kullanılmış, gerek yan etkilerinin fazla olması, gerekse pasikofarmakolojide gelişmeler nedeniyle terkedilmek zorunda kalınmış bir uygulamadır. Bu bölümde, psikoşirürjinin tarihsel dönüm noktaları kısaca gözden geçirilecek, frontal lobotominin sık kullanılışı ve daha sonra vazgeçilişinin nedenleri tartışılacaktır.
Psychosurgery was used in neurosurgery in the 20th century, but had to be abandoned due to its high side effects and developments in psychopharmacology. In this section, the historical turning points of psychosurgery will be briefly reviewed, and the reasons for the frequent use and later abandonment of frontal lobotomy will be discussed.
