The prebriefing process in simulation-based education is an orientation and preparation phase conducted prior to simulation applications and debriefing sessions in healthcare training. This process aims to enable students to review theoretical knowledge, adapt to the simulation environment and equipment, and clarify their learning objectives. A structured prebriefing session enhances clinical judgment, improves student performance, reduces anxiety, and directly supports the effectiveness of the debriefing phase. In this stage, educators are responsible for establishing a fiction contract that outlines professional integrity and rules, defining roles, and ensuring confidentiality. In recent years, one of the most critical elements of prebriefing has become the establishment of a psychologically safe learning environment that allows for mistakes, encourages asking questions, and promotes collaboration. Various traditional or alternative preparation methods, such as care plans, concept maps, case studies, video demonstrations, and quizzes, can be utilized as preparatory materials. Consequently, a standardized and purpose-driven prebriefing process directly optimizes the quality of simulation-based experiences and learning outcomes.
