Yaşlı Cerrahisinde Bakım
Özet
Yaşlı popülasyonu tüm dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de giderek artış göstermektedir. Fonksiyon yetersizliğinin azaltılması, ağrının giderilmesi, yaşam kalitesinin korunması ve sağlığın yükseltilmesi amacıyla yaşlı bireylerin yarısından fazlasının cerrahi girişim geçirdiği bilinmektedir. Yaşlanmaya bağlı fizyolojik değişiklikler ve ek kronik hastalıklar nedeniyle yaşlılar cerrahi girişimi daha az tolere etmekte, morbidite ve mortalite oranları gençlere göre daha yüksek olmaktadır. Buna rağmen etkili, yeterli, planlı ve kaliteli bir bakım ile ameliyat öncesi-sırası-sonrası komplikasyonların en aza indirgenmesi, sağkalım oranının arttırılması ve yaşam kalitesinin istenilen düzeyde tutulması mümkündür. Bu kitap bölümünde amaç; yaşlı cerrahi hastasında cerrahi süreç boyunca karşılaşabilecek sorunları gözden geçirmek, vaka analizi ve sorularla en uygun girişimleri tartışmaktır.
The elderly population is increasing in our country as well as all over the world. It is known that more than half of elderly individuals undergo surgical intervention to reduce functional impairment, relieve pain, protect quality of life, and improve health. Due to aging-related physiological changes and additional chronic diseases, the elderly are less able to tolerate surgical intervention, and their morbidity and mortality rates are higher than younger people. However, with effective, adequate, planned, and quality care, it is possible to minimize pre-operative and post-operative complications, increase the survival rate, and keep the quality of life at the desired level. The aim of this book section is; to review the problems that elderly surgical patients may encounter during the surgical process and to discuss the most appropriate interventions through case analysis and questions.
