Do They Constitute An Entity?: A Qualitative Examination on the Entitativity of Social Categories in Turkey

Bu çalışma, Türkiye'deki sosyal kategorilerin varlık durumunu nitel bir şekilde incelemektedir. Entitativite kavramı tanımlanmakta ve grup entitativitesinin işlevleri ve gruplar arası ilişkilere olan etkileri üzerinde durulmaktadır. Ölçüm yöntemleri eleştirilmekte ve Türkiye'deki gruplar arası ilişkilerin özellikleri incelenmektedir. Bu bağlamda, Kürt-Türk, Alevi-Sünni, AKP-CHP destekçileri ve çalışan kadınlar-kapalı kadınlar gibi farklı sosyal kategoriler ele alınmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Türkiye'deki sosyal kategorilerin varlık durumunu anlamak ve gruplar arası ilişkileri daha iyi anlamak için önemli bir katkı sağlamaktadır.

This study examines the existence status of social categories in Turkey in a qualitative manner. The concept of entitativity is defined, and the functions of group entitativity and its effects on intergroup relationships are emphasized. Measurement methods are criticized, and the characteristics of intergroup relationships in Turkey are examined. In this context, different social categories such as Kurdish-Turkish, Alevi-Sunni, AKP-CHP supporters, and working women-veiled women are addressed. This study makes an important contribution to understanding the existence status of social categories in Turkey and gaining a better understanding of intergroup relationships.
