Fonksiyonel Yemlerin Küçükbaş Hayvan Yetiştirme Sistemlerinde Refah, Adaptasyon ve Çevresel Uyum Üzerine Etkileri

Özet

Koyun ve keçi gibi ruminantlarda hayvancılık; genellikle geleneksel üretim sistemleri şeklinde yapılmaktadır. Söz konusu hayvanların yemleri daha çok doğal otlaklar ve bitki artıklarından oluşmaktadır. Bu yemlerin kalitesi ise mevsime bağlı olarak değişmektedir. Küçükbaş hayvanlar, düşük kaliteli yemleri, seçkin kimyasal bileşim ve organoleptik özelliklere sahip yüksek kaliteli hayvansal ürünlere dönüştürme konusunda en verimli hayvanlardır. Ancak nüfus artışından kaynaklanan çeşitli çevresel etmenler yanında azalan araziler yanında artan dünya nüfusu gıda güvenliğini sağlamak için gelecekte insan gıdasıyla rekabet edemeyen geleneksel olmayan yem kaynaklarının daha sürdürülebilir hayvancılık uygulamalarının geliştirilmesi ve etkili kullanımını zorunlu kılmaktadır. Dolayısıyla özellikle son yıllarda çiftlik hayvanlarının beslenmesinde meyve, sebze işleme yan ürünlerinin kullanımına yönelik önemli çevresel, ekonomik ve sosyal faktörlerin olduğu daha yüksek kalitede gıda ürünlerinin üretimi için ise fonksiyonel yem bileşenlerinin çiftlik hayvanlarının beslenmesinde kullanılabileceği belirtilmektedir.
