This section addresses the strategic importance of monitoring growth and development in calves in modern livestock enterprises. Regular monitoring of calves from birth is a fundamental management tool in terms of health, feeding success, weaning performance, future milk yield, reproductive performance, and farm profitability. Indicators such as live body weight, average daily gain, withers height, chest girth, body length, and rump measurements allow the evaluation of both body weight and skeletal development in calves. Analyzing these data through growth curves contributes to the early detection of growth retardation, nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or management-related problems. The section also emphasizes the role of regular record keeping, digital systems, automatic weighing, and precision livestock farming technologies in farm management. In conclusion, the systematic monitoring of calf growth performance is not merely a means of tracking physical development; rather, it represents a data-driven management approach that safeguards future breeding quality, herd health, and economic sustainability.
