Bilimsel Bilginin Üretiminden Sınıf İçi İnşasına: Fen Eğitiminde Epistemolojik Bir Köprü Olarak Modelleme
Özet
Bu kitap bölümü, bilimsel bilginin durağan bir gerçekler yığını değil, dinamik bir modelleme süreci olduğunu atom modellerinin tarihsel gelişimi üzerinden incelemektedir. Çalışma, bilimsel bilginin sunumunda sıkça düşünülen “sonuçların retoriği” durumu ve modelleri geçekliğin kendisi sanan “naif gerçekçilik” yaklaşımı ile başlar. Platon’un mağara alegorisi temelinde, doğrudan gözlemlenemeyen atomik dünyanın nasıl bir çıkarım süreciyle kurgulandığı tartışılmaktadır. Bölümde, aynı fenomen için neden birden fazla modelin var olduğu sorusu, anomaliler, verilerin yorumlanması ve paradigma değişimleri bağlamında yanıtlanmaktadır. Modelleme süreci, bireysel zihinsel modellerin, dış dünyaya aktarılan ifade edilmiş modellere, ardından bilimsel topuluğun onayından geçen uzalaşı modellerine ve nihayetinde müfredatlara giren tarihsel modellere dönüşümü üzerinden epistemolojik bir süzgeçten geçirilmektedir. Demokritos’un felsefi kurgusundan kuantum mekaniğine uzanan süreçte, Dalton, Thomson ve Rudherford gibi bilim insanlarının karşılaştığı her anomalinin modelleri nasıl revize ettiği ve bir modelin nasıl bilimsel statü kazandığı detaylandırılmaktadır. Sonuç olarak bu bölüm, fen eğitiminde modellemeyi sadece bir öğretim yöntemi değil, öğrencinin bilimsel bilginin inşasını bizzat deneyimlemesini sağlayan epistemolojik bir köprü olarak konumlandırmaktadır.
