This chapter examines the historical and conceptual transformation of the color blue in Western art within a metaphorical framework, focusing on the shift of its layers of meaning from sacredness to digital infinity. In the first section, the metaphorical nature of blue is  discussed, emphasizing that it functions not only as a linguistic and visual element but also as a signifier that produces meaning. The second section addresses the relationship between blue and sacredness in Medieval and Renaissance art, with particular attention to its iconographic use as a color representing the divine. The third section explores the new semantic dimensions of blue in the context of modern art, where it is associated with depth, infinity, and inner experience, highlighting its emotional and existential connotations. The final section argues that in the digital age, blue transforms into an image of “infinity” produced through algorithmic processes within screen-based visual culture, grounded in data and light. This transformation reveals the trajectory of blue from material pigment to digital light and its metaphorical continuity in Western art. Thus, the study aims to evaluate the changing metaphorical meanings of blue throughout history from a holistic perspective.
