In the post-war art scene of the 20th century, the nature of the artwork and the viewer's position within this structure began to be re-discussed. Yves Klein is one of the artists at the center of these discussions. Because Klein's works often do not produce merely an object to be looked at; they confront the viewer directly with a sense of colour, emptiness, matter, or density. Especially International Klein Blue, sponge reliefs and sponge sculptures, the Le Vide exhibition, and the Anthropometry works are among the most prominent examples of this approach. This study argues that Klein's works, which are based on colour, materiality, emptiness, and the body, converge around a common idea. From monochrome surfaces to sponge works, from empty gallery spaces to performances that directly involve the body in the production process, in this process, art begins to be thought of more through experience than through the object. Throughout the study, Klein's understanding of blue, the concept of emptiness, the use of the body, the relationship between materiality and immateriality, and the role assigned to the viewer have been evaluated together. Additionally, the influence of Rosicrucian thought, Zen philosophy, and judo practice on the artist's approach has also been addressed. As a result of the review, it has been observed that in Klein's art, meaning often emerges more during the viewer's experience than from the object itself. In this respect, Klein's works can be considered among the important examples of the transformation from object to experience in modern art.
