Köpeklerde Dental ve Oral Bozukluklar

Yazarlar

Dental and oral diseases constitute important clinical problems in dogs due to their frequent occurrence and their effects on oral functions, as well as their impact on animal welfare and overall health status. These diseases may cause local effects such as pain, infection, feeding difficulties, and tissue destruction, and in advanced cases may also lead to impaired oral functions and reduced quality of life. The occurrence of oral pathologies in dogs is shaped by the interaction of numerous factors, with developmental anomalies, inflammatory changes, and traumatic injuries constituting a significant proportion of these disorders. Accurate identification and evaluation of these diseases are of great importance for appropriate treatment planning. This section addresses gingival hyperplasia, tonsillar pathologies, impacted teeth, enamel developmental anomalies, and traumatic dentoalveolar injuries that are of clinical importance in dogs. These pathologies are evaluated on the basis of their etiopathogenesis, clinical findings, diagnostic evaluation methods, and treatment approaches, and their similar and distinctive characteristics are presented. Thus, the aim is to contribute to a better understanding of these diseases, which exhibit different characteristics but have significant effects on oral health, and to contribute to shaping an appropriate clinical approach.
