This chapter comprehensively examines the multidimensional impacts of diffuse pollution arising from intensive agricultural activities on soil health. Major pollution sources—including synthetic and animal manures, pesticide applications, contaminated irrigation water, biosolids, and erosion—are evaluated in relation to nutrient losses, greenhouse gas emissions, and pressures on aquatic ecosystems. The environmental fate of pesticides, heavy metals and pathogen loads originating from livestock production, as well as the potential effects of antibiotic resistance genes within soil systems, are also discussed. The behavior of pollutants in soil is analyzed within the framework of key soil properties such as texture, organic matter content, pH, moisture regime, and biodiversity, and the interactions between soil health and contaminant dynamics are elucidated. The chapter further presents an integrated framework for sustainable soil management by assessing remedial and preventive strategies, including 4R nutrient stewardship, integrated pest management, conservation tillage, precision agriculture practices, and biochar applications. It emphasizes that maintaining soil health is critical not only for agricultural productivity but also for food security, water quality, carbon cycling, and the continuity of ecosystem services.
