The Results Section forms the core of a scientific research paper. In this section, the data obtained from the research should be presented clearly, objectively, and systematically in a way that the reader can understand. This section is purely factual and only describes “what was found.” The past tense should be used as the writing style. Subjective opinions or interpretations are not allowed. The findings should be presented in an organized manner that aligns with the research questions/hypotheses. According to research design and journal writing guidelines, a structure can be created using subheadings when necessary. Presenting each data set along with text, visuals such as tables and figures, and statistical analysis, adds value to the article. Table or figure contents should not be repeated in the text. Both positive and negative results should be reported. A well-written and clear Results Section adds clarity and credibility to a research paper and the study as a whole. This book chapter describes the tips for writing an effective Results Section in a research paper.
