This book chapter provides a comprehensive overview of scientific article types used in medical and health sciences within the framework of scientific publishing principles and publication ethics. It emphasizes the critical role of selecting the appropriate article type in the production, dissemination, and long-term preservation of scientific knowledge. In this context, original research articles, narrative reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, case reports and case series, editorials, brief reports, letters to the editor, clinical guidelines, and technical or methodological notes are discussed in detail. For each article type, the purpose, structural characteristics, methodological requirements, and common pitfalls are outlined in accordance with internationally recognized reporting guidelines, including CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, CARE, ARRIVE, AGREE II, and SQUIRE. In addition, core principles of publication ethics—such as ethics committee approval, informed consent, conflict of interest disclosure, and avoidance of plagiarism are emphasized. This chapter serves as an educational and practical guide for researchers, academics, and clinicians, aiming to support the accurate presentation of scientific work and to enhance the quality and credibility of scholarly writing.
