Nutritional Skin Diseases
Özet
Nutritional diseases occur as a result of inadequate intake, impaired absorption, disturbances in metabolism or inappropriate utilization of nutrients. While isolated deficiencies may develop, combined protein, vitamin and mineral deficiencies are more common. Early recognition of some nutrient deficiencies leading to specific dermatologic findings helps early diagnosis, treatment and reduction of morbidity. In this chapter, we will discuss skin diseases that occur in geriatric patients due to protein-energy malnutrition, essential fatty acid, vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
