Dermatosurgery
Özet
In geriatric individuals, dermatologic surgery faces challenges due to various age-related factors when surgically treating skin issues. Preoperative assessment guides treatment choices by identifying surgical risks. Elderly individuals can often tolerate standard surgical methods. However, for frail elderly patients, non-surgical treatments such as electrodessication and curettage, cryotherapy, energy-based devices, radiotherapy, topical treatments, and intralesional chemotherapeutics are often more effective for managing their conditions from a holistic approach. Nevertheless, the burdens these treatments may impose should also be considered. Therefore, a personalized approach to treatment selection is crucial for achieving the best outcomes in geriatric patients.
