Özet

This chapter discusses the role of advanced visualization in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), emphasizing that the clinical value of CBCT depends not only on volumetric data acquisition but also on the way these data are transformed into meaningful three-dimensional images. After outlining the technical principles, clinical indications, dose optimization, and emerging developments in CBCT, the chapter reviews major post-processing and visualization methods, including multiplanar reformatting (MPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP), surface rendering/surface shaded display (SR/SSD), volume rendering (VR), and cinematic rendering (CR). Particular attention is given to the transition from VR to CR. VR is presented as a rapid, practical tool that remains compatible with measurement-based workflows, whereas CR is described as a complementary technique that uses advanced light-and-shadow modeling to create photorealistic anatomical representations with improved depth perception. The potential applications of these methods are discussed in endodontics, implantology, periodontology, orthodontics, maxillofacial trauma, pathological lesions, surgical planning, education, and patient communication. The chapter concludes that CR should not be regarded as a replacement for VR, but as a next-generation adjunct that enhances anatomical understanding, visual confidence, and clinical communication in selected cases.
