Menstrual Döngünün Maksimal Oksijen Tüketim Kapasitesi Üzerine Etkisi
Özet
Menstrual döngü boyunca östrojen ve progesteron düzeylerinde bazı fizyolojik dalgalanmalar meydana gelir. Bu dalgalanmalar kadın sporcularda aerobik kapasitenin belirlenmesinde (VO2max) bir faktör olabilir. Özellikle luteal fazda progestronun baskın olmasına bağlı olarak vücut ısısındaki yükselme, termoregülasyon ve kardiovasküler sistem üzerinde ek bir yük oluşturarak uzun süreli egzersizlerde algılanan eforun artmasına ve egzersiz performansını olumsuz etkilenmesine neden olabilir. Çoğu çalışma, submaksimal egzersizlerde oksijen tüketimi, kalp atım hızı ve algılanan efor düzeyinde anlamlı farklar bildirmese de, bazı araştırmalar luteal fazın ortasında kardiyovasküler yükte artış, daha yüksek VO₂ ve kalp atım hızı ile birlikte efor düzetlerinde yükselme tespit etmiştir. Dolayısıyla literatürde bu konu üzerinde çalışmalar bulunmakta birlikte bulgular tam olarak tutarlı değildir. Bu nedenle bu çalışmada menstrual döngü fazlarının aerobik kapasite üzerindeki etkileri sunulmuştur.
