Evlat Edinme ve Çocuk Ruh Sağlığı
Özet
Evlat edinme; bir yetişkinin, çoğunlukla reşit olmayan bir bireyin bakım, gözetim ve yetiştirilmesine ilişkin tüm yasal hak ve sorumlulukları kalıcı biçimde üstlendiği resmi bir işlemdir. Evlat edinilen çocuk ve ergenler, doğdukları andan evlat edinilene kadar bulundukları bakım ortamlarında çeşitli olumsuz deneyimlere maruz kalabilmekte; bu durum fiziksel, ruhsal ve bilişsel alanlarda güçlüklerle sonuçlanabilmektedir. Bu güçlüklerin etiyolojisinde genetik yatkınlıklar ile çevresel etmenler birlikte rol oynamaktadır. Yaşamın erken dönemlerinde anne–bebek bağlanma sorunlarıyla ilişkili olarak ağlama, huzursuzluk, içe çekilme, oyun ve beslenmeye ilgisizlik ile uyku problemleri ön plandayken; daha ileri yaşlarda öfke, saldırganlık, dikkat sorunları, akran ilişkilerinde güçlükler, akademik işlevsellikte düşüş ve öz bakım becerilerinde gerilik gibi ruhsal ve bilişsel sorunlar görülebilmektedir. Yapılan çalışmalarda, biyolojik ebeveynleriyle yaşaması mümkün olmayan çocukların önemli bir bölümünde evlat edinme sonrasında gelişimsel aksaklıkların durduğu ya da zamanla azaldığı ve çocukların yaşıtlarını yakalamaya başladığı bildirilmektedir. Bununla birlikte, bazı evlat edinme süreçleri sonrasında ebeveynlere karşı gelme, evden kaçma ve antisosyal davranışlar gibi dışa vurumcu ruhsal sorunların evlat edinilen çocuk ve ergenlerde devam edebildiği de ifade edilmektedir. Bu bölümde, evlat edinme öncesi, süreci ve sonrasında çocuk ve ergenlerin gelişimsel dönem özellikleri dikkate alınarak ortaya çıkan ruh sağlığı sorunları literatür doğrultusunda ele alınacaktır.
