Hospitalisation and associated procedures such as surgery, vaccination, diagnosis and treatment in children cause them to experience negative feelings and thoughts such as stress, worry, fear and anxiety. During this process, the child may find it difficult to express themselves and coping mechanisms may be inadequate. Play is the most important key to communicating with children. Play is an effective and simple means of communication that enables children to express themselves. Today, changing and developing technology is also affecting children's daily lives. New and innovative technologies are being used for children for the purposes of education, entertainment, maintaining and improving health, communication, and skill acquisition. Consequently, game culture is also evolving towards digitalisation today. Naturally, combining the game that has been passed down from the past with technology is inevitable. Within the game, children learn many things while also developing positive health behaviours and increasing their motivation. Game can help nurses identify the appropriate approach by getting to know the child/family and enable active participation in care. It is important for pediatric nurses to adopt appropriate play approaches based on the child's developmental stage, individual characteristics and current condition and integrate them into nursing care. In this context, paediatric nurses should adopt innovative approaches and closely follow technological developments. It is important for pediatric nurses to be pioneers and guides in nursing care by contributing to the development of games in light of evidence-based information in the ever-evolving and changing world of technology. This section addresses games, evolving technology and games, digital games, serious games in healthcare, and the roles and responsibilities of pediatric nurses. The aim of this section is to examine the reflections of technology on the evolution of games in the field of pediatrics.
