Erken Yetişkinlik Döneminde Sosyoduygusal Gelişim

Özet

Bu bölümde, erken yetişkinlik döneminde görülen sosyal ve duygusal gelişim süreçleri ele alınmıştır. Arnett’in (2000) belirttiği üzere, erken yetişkinlik çocukluktan çıkış ile tam anlamıyla yetişkinliğe geçiş arasında yer alan, kendine özgü dinamikleri olan önemli bir evredir. Bu dönemin temel yaşam olayları; eğitim, aile evinden ayrılma, romantik ilişkiler kurma ve çalışma yaşamına katılma biçiminde özetlenebilir. Söz konusu sosyal ve ilişkisel değişimler, kuramsal yaklaşımlar ve güncel ampirik bulgular ışığında tartışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda, dönemin özellikleri Erikson’un Psikososyal Gelişim Kuramı, Levinson’un Yaşam Dönemleri Teorisi ve Vaillant’ın Yetişkinlikte Uyum Teorisi çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca, hem dünyada hem de Türkiye’de elde edilen istatistiksel veriler doğrultusunda, erken yetişkinlik dönemindeki bireylerin eğitim, çalışma yaşamı, aileyle birlikte yaşama ve evlilik gibi alanlardaki genel eğilimleri önceki kuşaklar ve küresel ölçekteki verilerle karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmiştir. Son olarak, modernleşmenin bu döneme etkileri, gençlerin medya araçlarını kullanma biçimleri ve bu kullanımın doğurabileceği olası psikolojik zorluklar ayrıntılı biçimde değerlendirilmiştir. Tüm bu değerlendirmelerde, kültürel bağlamın belirleyici rolü vurgulanmış; erken yetişkinlik dönemine ilişkin bulgular kültüre duyarlı bir perspektifle incelenmiştir.
