Re-Emergence of Self and After Marital Separation
Özet
Bu bölüm, yaşlılık döneminde eş kaybı, boşanma ya da ayrı yaşamaya bağlı olarak kadınların benliklerini yeniden inşa etme sürecini feminist gerontoloji perspektifinden ele almaktadır. Çalışma, İzmir’de 2016–2017 yıllarında 150 kadınla gerçekleştirilen saha verilerine dayanmaktadır. Bulgular, kadınların evlilik süresinin uzunluğu, eğitim düzeyi, ekonomik bağımsızlık ve sosyal destek kaynaklarının, yaşlılıkta karşılaştıkları yeniden yapılanma sürecini doğrudan etkilediğini göstermektedir. Dul kadınlarda fiziksel sağlık sorunları ve bağımsızlık kayıpları öne çıkarken, boşanmış veya ayrı yaşayan kadınlarda psikolojik zorlukların ve belirsizliklerin daha belirgin olduğu görülmüştür. Feminist kuram, özellikle Simone de Beauvoir’ın kadını “öteki” konumuna yerleştiren eleştirileriyle, yaşlı kadınların toplumsal cinsiyet rollerini aşma çabalarının anlaşılmasına teorik bir zemin sunmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışma, kadınların yalnızca biyolojik yaşlanma ile değil, aynı zamanda patriyarkal yapılar ve toplumsal eşitsizliklerle şekillenen bir süreçten geçtiklerini vurgulamaktadır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, yaşlı kadınların kimliklerini yeniden kurma sürecinin, özgürleşme, bireyselleşme ve sosyal katılım boyutlarıyla değerlendirilmesi gerektiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Ayrıca, bu deneyimlerin sosyal politika üretiminde dikkate alınması gerektiği belirtilmektedir.
