Veteriner Halk Sağlığı: Genel Bakış
Özet
Sağlık, yalnızca hastalık ya da sakatlık olmaması değil; fiziksel, zihinsel ve sosyal yönden tam bir iyilik hâlidir. Sağlık çok boyutludur ve biyolojik, davranışsal, çevresel, sosyoekonomik ve kültürel faktörlerle şekillenir. Sağlık hizmetleri, bireylerin ve toplumun iyilik hâlini korumak, geliştirmek ve iyileştirmek amacıyla sunulan sistematik müdahalelerdir. Tarihsel süreçte dini uygulamalardan modern bilimsel sistemlere dönüşmüş ve günümüzde küresel bir toplumsal sorumluluk olarak kabul edilmiştir. Halk sağlığı, birey ve toplum sağlığını geliştirmeyi hedefleyen, koruyucu ve toplum temelli bir alandır. Yaşam kalitesini artırmak ve sağlıkta eşitliği sağlamak temel amaçtır. Veteriner Hekimlik, yalnızca hayvan sağlığıyla sınırlı olmayan; insan sağlığı, çevre sağlığı ve küresel sağlık güvenliği açısından da kritik bir meslektir. Sanayi Devrimi sonrası süreçte farklı disiplinlerle iş birliği kaçınılmaz hâle gelmiş, Veteriner Hekimlik çok yönlü bir sorumluluk kazanmıştır.
