Geriatrik Üroonkoloji Tanım ve Epidemiyolojisi
Özet
Geriatrik üroonkoloji, yaşlı bireylerde görülen ürolojik kanserlerin tanı, tedavi ve takibine odaklanan multidisipliner bir alandır. Artan yaşam süresi ve düşen doğurganlık oranlarıyla birlikte yaşlı nüfus oranı dünya genelinde hızla yükselmektedir. Prostat, mesane ve böbrek kanserleri başta olmak üzere ürolojik kanserlerin büyük çoğunluğu ileri yaş grubunda ortaya çıkmakta ve bu hastaların yönetiminde yaşlanmaya bağlı fizyolojik değişiklikler, komorbiditeler, kırılganlık, bilişsel bozukluklar ve polifarmasi gibi ek zorluklar göz önünde bulundurulmalıdır. Kapsamlı Geriatrik Değerlendirme (KGD) ve G8 gibi tarama araçları, tedavi seçiminde yaşlı hastaların biyolojik rezervlerini ve fonksiyonel durumlarını değerlendirmek için kritik öneme sahiptir. Bu bölümde, yaşlı hasta kavramı, yaşlanmanın fizyolojik etkileri, geriatrik değerlendirme yöntemleri ve başlıca ürolojik kanserlerin yaşlı popülasyondaki epidemiyolojik özellikleri ele alınmaktadır. Amaç, sadece yaşam süresini uzatmak değil, aynı zamanda yaşam kalitesini ve fonksiyonel bağımsızlığı korumaktır.
