Thrush is a common fungal infection in newborns and breastfeeding mothers. It occurs due to the overgrowth of Candida albicans in the oral mucosa of infants or on the nipples of mothers. This condition negatively affects the breastfeeding process by causing feeding difficulties in infants and nipple pain or cracks in mothers. The purpose of this case report is to examine the causes, risk factors, and strategies for managing thrush. It also provides information on effective prevention and treatment methods. The study particularly emphasizes how thrush infections can be prevented through proper hygiene practices and proper breastfeeding techniques. The critical role of lactation consultants in providing practical guidance and emotional support to mothers with thrush is highlighted.
