Breastfeeding self-efficacy is a mother’s belief and confidence in her ability to breastfeed her baby. In the early postpartum period, mothers’ breastfeeding self-efficacy may be affected by various individual, psychosocial and physical factors. Factors such as maternal age, educational level, traumatic birth experience, postpartum depression, and lack of social support negatively affect breastfeeding self-efficacy. Breastfeeding self-efficacy is a critical factor for mothers to have a healthy breastfeeding process. Long-term follow-up and treatment is required to increase breastfeeding self-efficacy. In this process, it is important to ensure that the mother gains confidence in breastfeeding, to support her to learn breastfeeding techniques correctly and to detect and solve possible problems at an early stage. Through educational interventions, psychological support, family support and social groups, the difficulties experienced by mothers during breastfeeding can be overcome and breastfeeding self-efficacy can be increased. This case study aims to examine the causes, symptoms, and complications of decreased breastfeeding self-efficacy and recommended treatment strategies to increase breastfeeding self-efficacy. It also emphasizes the critical role of providing support to mothers.
