Pain management in intensive care patients is crucial for improving patient comfort, reducing stress response, and preventing complications. Interventional pain management techniques provide effective alternatives for patients who do not respond to pharmacological treatments or require opioid-sparing strategies. This chapter details interventional techniques such as epidural and spinal blocks, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, intrathecal drug administration, and vertebral interventions (vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty).
Interventional pain management can facilitate better pain control, enhance mobilization, reduce mechanical ventilation duration, and improve overall prognosis in critically ill patients.
