Bibliometric Analysis of Scientific Publications on Construction Work Accidents in the Web of Science Database

Özet

The construction industry is one of the sectors with high risks in terms of occupational health and safety, high work volume and high number of employees. The challenging internal dynamics of the sector, combined with human errors, cause frequent occupational accidents. The aim of this study is to investigate how occupational health and safety in the construction sector has been reflected in research articles from past to present using bibliometric analysis method. For this purpose, 578 articles were accessed using the keywords “construction” and “occupational accidents” in the WoS Core Collection database. The earliest publication on the subject was made in 1981 and the highest number of publications was reached in 2022. The author with the most articles was Lipscomb, while the journal that published the most articles was the American Journal of Industrial Medicine. The most repeated keyword in the articles was “occupational injury”. For future research, concepts with significant research potential include “artificial intelligence”, “natural language processing”, “machine learning” and “mental health”.
