Özet

Rickettsia, dünya çapında akut ateşli hastalıklara neden olan, vektör kaynaklı patojenlerdir. Riketsiyal enfeksiyonların klinik belirtileri benzer olmakla birlikte, etken türler ve epidemiyoloji, bölgeye göre değişiklik gösterebilir. Önemli morbidite ve mortaliteyle ilişkili bu enfeksiyonları doğru bir şekilde erken teşhis etmek ve hızlıca tedavi etmek için belirli bir bölgenin hem tipik semptomlarını hem de epidemiyolojisini tanımak önemlidir. Riketsiyal enfeksiyonlarda en önemli korunma yöntemi önlemedir. Önleme, özellikle endemik bölgelere seyahat ederken veya bu bölgelerde yaşarken, kene ve pire maruziyetinden kaçınmaya dayanır. Açık hava faaliyetlerinden sonra böceklerin dikkatli bir şekilde kontrol edilmesi ve riketsiyal enfeksiyon riskini en aza indirmek için uzun kollu giysilerin ve böcek kovucuların kullanılması önerilmektedir.
