Consultation-liaison psychiatry (CLP) addresses the evaluation and management of emotional and behavioral issues in individuals with physical illnesses. As a subspecialty of child and adolescent psychiatry, CLP focuses on improving medical outcomes in children and adolescents with physical illnesses, managing acute-onset neuropsychiatric conditions, diagnosing and treating psychiatric comorbidities, and identifying as well as addressing psychiatric complications arising from systemic diseases and their treatments. In this context, psychiatric consultation in children and adolescents plays a crucial role in providing support to patients, families, and medical teams while facilitating the differentiation of psychiatric disorders. CLP in child and adolescent populations has gained increasing significance in recent years by employing a biopsychosocial approach and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, thereby contributing holistically to the healthcare processes of patients.
