Vitamin B7 (Biyotin)
Özet
Biyotin, suda eriyen bir vitamindir. Glikoz, yağ asitleri ve amino asitlerin metabolizmasında yer alan beş karboksilaz için bir koenzim olarak işlev görür. Biyotinin bu karboksilazlara olan bağlantıları biyotinidaz enzimi tarafından katalize edilir. Biyotin gıdalarda yaygın olarak bulunur ve ayrıca bağırsak mikrobiyotası tarafından da sentezlenebilir, bu nedenle biyotinin birincil eksikliği pek olası değildir. Çiğ yumurta beyazı tüketimine bağlı görülen biyotin eksikliğinde çoğunlukla dermatolojik lezyonlar olarak ortaya çıkar. Literatürde yüksek dozlarda biyotin alımıyla insanlarda veya hayvanlarda herhangi bir yan etki bildirilmemiştir.
Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin. It functions as the coenzyme for five carboxylases involved in the metabolism of glucose, fatty acids, and amino acids. The attachment of biotin to these carboxylases is catalyzed by the enzyme biotinidase. Biotin is widely found in foods and can also be synthesized by the gut microbiota; therefore, primary biotin deficiency is unlikely. Biotin deficiency, which is associated with the consumption of raw egg whites, usually manifests as dermatological lesions. No adverse effects have been reported in humans or animals in the literature due to biotin overdose.
