The male and female breasts develop similarly during the embryological process; however, significant differences arise during puberty due to hormonal influences. In females, estrogen stimulates the development of glandular tissue and lobules, transforming them into functional structures, whereas in males, the suppressive effect of testosterone limits glandular tissue development to a minimal level. Consequently, males lack lobular structures, and lobular pathologies are almost never observed. This chapter provides a detailed overview of the anatomy and embryological development of the male breast, along with the radiological findings and diagnostic processes of male breast diseases.
