Status Epileptikus

Özet

Epilepsi, beyindeki anormal artmış nöron aktivitesinin neden olduğu, tekrarlayan nöbetlerle seyreden, genetik kökenli de olabilen kronik nörolojik bir hastalıktır. Status epileptikus ise 5 dakikadan uzun süren tek bir nöbet veya nöbetler arasında bilincin düzelmediği iki veya daha fazla nöbet aktivitesi olarak tanımlanabilir. Genelde epilepsi hikayesi veya nöbet öyküsü olan hastalarda görülürken acil servislere ilk nöbet hikayesi ile beraber de gelebilir. Mortalite oranı oldukça yüksek bir tablo olup tedavinin esası hızlı müdahale ile beyinin oksijenizasyonunun sağlanması ve nöronal hasarı önlemek için nöbetin bir an önce sonlandırılması üzerinedir. Hızlı ve etkin müdahaleyi vurgulamak için ‘time is brain’ sloganı son yıllarda status epileptikus (SE) tedavisi ile özdeşleşmiştir.
