Karotis Arter Hastalıkları ve Ateroskleroz
Özet
İnme, dünya genelinde ikinci en sık ölüm sebebi olması nedeniyle önemli bir halk sağlığı sorunudur. Ülkelerin sağlık harcamalarına ciddi bir yük oluşturur, kişide oluşturduğu sekel ile çok uzun süre hayat konforunu kısıtlayabilir. Karotis arter stenozuna bağlı inme tüm inmelerin %8-15’inden sorumludur. Ateroskleroz, karotis arter hastalığının en yaygın nedenidir, inme ve geçici iskemik atak için önemli bir risk faktörüdür. Ateroskleroz, iyi bilinen vasküler riskler (diyabet, hiperlipidemi ve sigara kullanımı gibi) tarafından tetiklenir. Karotis arter hastalığının idiyopatik aterosklerotik olmayan nedenleri ise daha az bilinmektedir ve bu hastalıklar da önemli oranda morbidite-mortaliteye neden olabilir. Bunlar karotis arter diseksiyonu, fibromüsküler displazi, moyamoya hastalığı, takayasu arteriti ve temporal arterit şeklinde sıralanabilir.
