Carbohydrates, proteins, fats and vitamins that provide our nutrition come to the liver as the first stop after being absorbed from the intestines. Macro and micro nutrients are metabolized in the liver and converted into sub-products, taking their natural place in the nutritional process. Since this natural process is disrupted in liver diseases, malnutrition is a common condition. Malnutrition is a nutritional disorder that occurs as a result of decreased or increased intake or absorption of macro and micro nutrients. It can be seen at a rate of 20 percent in compensated cirrhosis and 50-80 percent in decompensated cirrhosis. This situation worsens the prognosis in liver diseases and increases mortality.
