Çocukların Okuma Haklarına İlişkin Öğrenci ve Veli Görüşleri

Özet

Çocukların okuma materyallerine erişmesi ve onları kendi istekleri doğrultusunda okuması en onlar için temel bir haktır. Çocukların kitaplara erişimini kolaylaştırmak, özgürce kitap okuyacakları ortamlar sunmak gelecekte daha iyi bir yaşam sürmelerine büyük ölçüde katkı sağlayacaktır. Bu çalışmanın amacı veli ve öğrencilerin çocukların okuma haklarına ilişkin olarak farkındalıklarının belirlenmesidir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi ve bu yönteme bağlı olarak durum çalışması tercih edilmiştir. Örneklemde yer alan öğrenci ve velilerin belirlenmesinde olasılıklı olmayan örnekleme türlerinden “kartopu örnekleme yöntemi” kullanılmıştır. Araştırma Türkiye’nin 25 farklı şehrinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlk ve ortaokulda öğrenim gören 166 öğrenciye; çocuğu ilk ve ortaokulda öğrenim göre 198 veliye ulaşılmıştır. Verilerin elde edilmesinde öğrenci ve veli için geliştirilmiş olan açık uçlu soru formlarından yararlanılmıştır.  Elde edilen veriler bilgisayar ortamına aktarılmış ve içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin çocukların okuma hakkı konusunda yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları görülmüştür. Elde edilen verilere göre öğrenciler kendi özgürlük alanlarında okuma yapmak; yaşadıkları bölgede kütüphane olmasını istemektedir. Araştırmaya katılan velilerin çocukların okuma hakkı konusunda yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları ya da yanlış bilgiye sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Öğrenciler ve veliler çocukların okuma hakkı konusunda bilgilendirilmelidir.
