Özet
Pediatrik kardiyoloji alanındaki gelişmelere bağlı olarak çocuklarda kalp hastalığı daha fazla tanı almakta, hayatta kalma oranları ve yaşam beklentisi dünya çapında önemli ölçüde artmaktadır. Bu hastalar yapısal defektler, ventriküler fonksiyon bozukluğu, pulmoner hipertansiyon ve ritim bozuklukları nedeniyle artmış kardiyovasküler risk altındadır. Ancak bu hastalık grubundaki çocuklar fiziksel ve psikososyal gelişimlerini sürdürebilmek için fiziksel aktivitelere katılmaya ihtiyaç duyarlar. Fiziksel aktivite hemodinamik dengeyi etkileyebileceğinden, ebeveynler ve doktorlar için hastalara hangi fiziksel aktivitenin güvenli bir şekilde nasıl ve ne ölçüde tavsiye edilebileceği konusunda zorluklar yaşanmaktadır. Yapısal kalp hastalığı olan bazı çocuklarda hemodinamik durum zamanla değişebileceğinden belli periyotlarla değerlendirilmelidir.
