Özet

Yaşlanma; her canlıda kaçınılmaz olarak yaşanan, karmaşık yapılı ve çok faktörlü sebepleri olan doğumla birlikte başlayan sürecin ilerlemesi ile geri dönülmez yapısal ve fonksiyonel değişiklikler olarak tanımlanmaktadır. İnsanların düzenli tıbbi takiplerini yaptırması, teknolojinin ilerlemesi sonucu hastalıkların tedavisinin gün geçtikçe artması, sosyoekonomik ve kültürel koşulların iyileşmesinin bir sonucu olarak ulusal ve uluslararası alanda ortalama yaşam süresi artmıştır. Bu sebeple sağlıklı, bağımsız ve sosyal bir yaşlılık dönemi geçirebilmek için geriatrik rehabilitasyon daha da önem kazanan alanlardan biri haline gelmiştir. Geriatrik rehabilitasyon; yaşlanma ile meydana gelen fizyolojik, psikolojik, mental ve sosyal yönden oluşan olumsuzlukların bir veya birkaçı sebebiyle bireylerde meydana getirdiği fonksiyon kaybını azaltmak, azalan yaşam kalitesini yeniden artırmak amacıyla hasta ve ailesinin de sürece dahil edildiği ve farklı disiplinlerin iş birliği sonucu oluşturulan ve yürütülen bilim dalıdır. Geriatrik rehabilitasyonun başarılı olabilmesi için gereken adımların, ekibin ve rehabilitasyon hizmetinin verildiği alanların bilinmesi hem bireysel hem de toplumsal anlamda yaşlılık dönemi için son derece önemlidir. Bu sebeple bu çalışmanın hem literatüre hem de alana katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

Aging is defined as irreversible structural and functional changes with the progression of the process that starts with birth, which inevitably occurs in every living thing, has a complex structure and multifactorial causes. As a result of people having regular medical follow-ups, the treatment of diseases increasing day by day as a result of the advancement of technology, and the improvement of socioeconomic and cultural conditions, the average life expectancy has increased nationally and internationally. For this reason, geriatric rehabilitation has become one of the areas that have become more important in order to have a healthy, independent and social old age. Geriatric rehabilitation is a branch of science that is created and carried out as a result of the cooperation of different disciplines and in which the patient and his/her family are included in the process in order to reduce the loss of function caused by one or more of the physiological, psychological, mental and social problems caused by aging and to increase the quality of life again. Knowing the steps, the team and the areas where rehabilitation services are provided in order for geriatric rehabilitation to be successful is extremely important for both individual and social aging. For this reason, it is thought that this study will contribute to both the literature and the field.
