Collegial solidarity is defined as providing support among colleagues and sharing professional knowledge, technical expertise, and skills with each other. Collegial solidarity generally consists of components such as teamwork, shared goals, supportive behavior, mutual sharing, mutual respect, and mutual trust. These components also serve as empirical references for collegial solidarity. Collegial solidarity can have both positive and negative effects on employees. Having collegial solidarity in an organization enhances team spirit, enables better management of conflicts, and boosts the morale and motivation of employees. Additionally, collegial solidarity assists employees in resolving work-related issues and reduces job stress, intention to leave, and burnout. It also increases individuals' self-confidence. Moreover, when support is accepted from a colleague, the recipient may also perceive it as a reflection of their inadequacy in accomplishing the task. Nurses are at the core of the healthcare team and are in communication and coordination with virtually every profession within the healthcare institution. Therefore, positive communication and solidarity among nurses are critical for patient safety, quality service delivery, and preventing adverse outcomes. A significant responsibility for nurse managers is to foster a climate and culture that promotes positive colleague relationships, teamwork, and solidarity.
