Salman Rushdie’nin Mağriplinin Son İç Çekişi Adlı Romanında Çokkültürlülük Ve Tarihe Palimpsest-Ekfrastik Bir Bakış
Özet
Salman Rushdie’nin 1995’te yayımlanan romanı Mağriplinin Son İç Çekişi anlatıcı karakter Moraes Zogoiby aracılığıyla Hindistan sömürge tarihi, köken, kültür ve kimlik karmaşıklığı kavramlarını sorgulayan zengin bir anlatı sunar. Rushdie farklı katmanlarda yer alan görsel veya metinsel unsurları bir araya getiren palimpsest kavramını Hindistan’ın çok katmanlı ve çokkültürlü dokusuna gönderme yaparak hem Moor’un annesi Aurora’nın sanatında hem de romanın tarih, kültür ve sanatı harmanlayan anlatı yapısında kullanır. Hindistan Ana’nın alternatif bir temsilini sunan Aurora’nın Arap İspanya’sından esinlenen ve oğlunu son Mağripli hükümdarı Sultan Boabdil ile ilişkilendirdiği resimleri, sanatsal referanslarla ekfrastik bir anlatı anlayışı ile çok kültürlülüğü ön plana çıkaran siyasi ve tarihi bir kayıt oluşturur. Dolayısıyla; İngiliz sömürgecilerin, önceki işgalcilerin ve yeni sömürgeci güçlerin etkileri de dahil olmak üzere Hindistan tarihindeki kültürel melezleşmeyi yansıtan ve sömürge sonrası Hindistan’da yeni bir kimlik ve denge yaratma çabasına katkıda bulunan bir işlev kazanarak önemli bir anlatı aracı haline gelirler.
