Özet

İnsan popülasyonlarının uyguladıkları diyetler son derece karmaşıktır. Bileşen kimyasalların alımı (temel besin ögeleri, besinlerin besleyici olmayan bileşenleri ve kontaminantlar gibi) veya besinler, besin grupları veya diyet kalıpları dahil olmak üzere farklı şekillerde değerlendirilebilirler. Diyet ve hastalık arasındaki ilişkinin maksimal şekilde kavranması, genellikle diyetin hem bileşenler hem de besinler bazında incelenmesiyle mümkün olacaktır. Besin ögelerinin ve diğer bileşenlerin hesaplanması, eksiksiz ve güncel değerlere sahip çok çeşitli besin ögesini içeren bir besin bileşimi veri tabanının varlığını gerektirmektedir.
