Özet

Uzuv kaybı; kişilerin bedenlerinin çeşitli nedenlerle bir parçasını kaybetmesi olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Uzvunu kaybeden bireylere ise “ampute” denilmektedir. Uzuv kayıpları; kimi zaman diyabet, kardiyovasküler hastalıklar gibi sağlık sorunları sonucunda ortaya çıkabiliyorken kimi zaman iş kazası, deprem gibi travmatik olaylar sonucunda yaşanabilmektedir. Deprem gibi doğal afetlerde; kişiler uzuvlarını kaybetmelerine ilişkin herhangi bir hazırlıkları bulunmaksızın travmayla direkt yüzleşmek durumunda kalmaktadırlar. Bu durum amputelerin yeni bedenlerine alışma, doğru yürüyüş paternini oluşturma, tedaviye katılma, kaybedilen uzvun yerine takılan protezi kullanmada işbirlikçi olma gibi süreçlerde zorluklar yaşamalarına sebep olmaktadır. Bu zorlanmalar kişinin hem fiziksel hem de psikososyal iyi oluşuyla ilişkili olup kazanımlı bir rehabilitasyon sürecini gerekli kılmaktadır. Bilinmelidir ki amputelerin yeni bedenlerine ilişkin algıları, kabulleri ve uyumları çok boyutlu bir multidisipliner çalışma gerektirmektedir. Benzer şekilde amputelerin toplumsal yaşama geri dönüşleri multidisipliner çalışma perspektifinde fiziksel, psikososyal, toplumsal-beşerî ve maddi boyutlarda çalışmayla mümkündür.
