Özet

Doğal afetler sonrası karşılaşılan en önemli psikolojik tepkilerden birisi travma sonrası stres bozukluğudur (TSSB). TSSB travmatik bir olay sonucunda gelişen yeniden yaşama, kaçınma, umursamama, yabancılaşma ve aşırı uyarılma gibi belirtilerle karakterize bir sendromdur. Araştırmalar farklı oranlar vermekle birlikte özellikle deprem gibi doğal afetler sonucunda TSSB görülme riskinin oldukça yüksek olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. TSSB tedavi edilmesi gereken önemli bir ruh sağlığı sorunudur. Tedavi edilmeyen TSSB pek çok diğer ruh sağlığı sorununu da beraberinde getirmektedir. TSSB tedavisinin en en önemli bileşenlerinden birisi de sosyal hizmet mesleğidir. Sosyal hizmet uzmanları diğer meslek gruplarından farklı olarak TSSB yaşayanlara mesleğin temel değerleri doğrultusunda bütüncül bakış açısıyla yaklaşıp, mikro, mezzo ve makro boyutta travmanın etkilerini azaltabilecek müdahaleler gerçekleştirebilir.
