Özet

SARS-CoV-2'ye karşı oluşan doğal ve kazanılmış bağışıklık yanıtı, enfeksiyonun önlenmesi ve kontrol altına alınmasında önemlidir. SARS-CoV-2 enfeksiyonunda virüse karşı inflamatuvar yanıt yoğun olduğu durumlarda pro-inflamatuvar sitokinler aşırı üretilir ve sitokin fırtınası olarak bilinen bu durum akut respiratuvar distres sendromu ve çoklu organ yetmezliğine yol açar. Aşılama ve doğal enfeksiyon prevalansı dünya çapında arttıkça, primer veya reenfeksiyon riskini tahmin eden yaklaşımlara olan ilgi artmaktadır. Viral varyantların ortaya çıkmasıyla tetiklenen art arda gelen enfeksiyon dalgaları mevcutken, iyileşen hastaların bir alt grubunda, uzamış COVID-19 olarak adlandırılan uzun süreli hastalık semptomları giderek artan şekilde tanınmaktadır.
