Sünnetin Çocuk Ruh Sağlığı Üzerine Etkisi
Özet
Ülkemizde çok sık uygulanan sünnet işleminin çocuk ruh sağlığı üzerine olan etkisi şüphesiz önem arz eden bir konudur. Sünnetin ruh sağlığı üzerine etkileri kültürel ve dini inanışlara göre farklılık göstermektedir. Özellikle yabancı yazında tedavi edici olmayan sünnet işleminin çocukların ruh sağlığı üzerine olumsuz etkisi olduğuna yönelik sert eleştirilerin olduğu görülmektedir. Türk toplumunda ise sünnet olmamanın kabul edilmediği, erkek çocukların bu durumdan utanç duydukları ve kendilerini kusurlu hissettikleri belirtilmiştir. Ailenin çocuğu sünnet işlemine nasıl hazırladığı ve çocuğun sünnet işlemi ile ilgili ne kadar bilgiye sahip olduğu sünnetin etkilerinin ortaya çıkışında önemli faktörlerdir.
