Özet

Gebelik, doğum ve doğum sonu dönemlerde bitkisel ve doğal tedavilerin kullanımını inceleyen bu çalışma, geleneksel yöntemlerin ebelerin danışmanlığında ve kanıta dayalı olarak yürütülmesinin önemini vurgulamaktadır. Dünya genelinde yaygın olan bu uygulamalar; hafif semptomları hafifletmek, servikal dilatasyonu kolaylaştırmak, anne sütünü artırmak ve postpartum komplikasyonları yönetmek amacıyla tercih edilmektedir. Ancak, bilinçsizce ve kontrolsüz dozlarda kullanılan bazı şifalı bitkilerin plasentayı geçerek teratojenik etkilere, abortusa, erken doğuma veya maternal-fetal toksisiteye yol açabileceği klinik ve deneysel çalışmalarla kanıtlanmıştır. Bu süreçte ebeler, kadınların kullandığı bitkisel takviyeleri detaylıca sorgulamalı, potansiyel yan etkiler ile riskler konusunda yargılayıcı olmayan, açık ve bilimsel kanıtlara dayalı bir rehberlik sunmalıdır.

This study, which examines the use of herbal and natural therapies during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum periods, emphasizes the importance of conducting traditional methods under the counseling of midwives and based on evidence. Widespread globally, these practices are preferred to alleviate mild symptoms, facilitate cervical dilatation, increase breast milk, and manage postpartum complications. However, clinical and experimental studies have proven that certain medicinal plants used unconsciously and in uncontrolled doses can cross the placenta, leading to teratogenic effects, abortion, preterm labor, or maternal-fetal toxicity. In this process, midwives must thoroughly question the herbal supplements used by women and provide non-judgmental, clear, and scientifically evidence-based guidance regarding potential side effects and risks.
