Özet

Due to its geographical location and atmospheric conditions, Turkey is a country where all natural hazards that may cause disasters are seen frequently and widely. Many provinces are threatened by one or more natural hazards. Natural disasters according to the damage they cause to settlements in Turkey; earthquake, landslide, flood, rockfall, avalanche and forest fires. These natural events, which exist in the balance of nature, turn into natural disasters when the human factor is present. There has been a significant increase in the number of natural disasters, especially since the 1960s. Among the main reasons for this are population growth and, accordingly, the opening of areas where the probability of disasters is high to be settled. With today's resources, it is not possible to predict and prevent these natural events. In order for people to survive these natural events with the least damage, it is necessary to know the natural events well, to determine the conditions of their occurrence and to take appropriate measures. The main thing in the struggle against disasters is to take the necessary precautions before a disaster occurs. This is only possible with the disaster susceptibility-hazard and risk maps to be prepared.
