Özet

Ozon, tıpta ve diş hekimliğinde uzun yıllardır alternatif ve tamamlayıcı bir tedavi yöntemi olarak kullanılan güçlü bir antimikrobiyal ve antioksidan ajandır. Bu gazın etki mekanizması; bakteri ve virüslerin bütünlüğünü bozarak üremelerini engellemeye, bağışıklık sistemini aktive etmeye, ağrı ve enflamasyonu azaltmaya, hücresel enerji sirkülasyonunu ve dokuların oksijenlenmesini artırmaya dayanmaktadır. Ağız, diş ve çene cerrahisi alanında ozon tedavisi; ameliyathane sterilizasyonunda, gömülü diş çekimleri sonrasında oluşan ağrı, şişlik ve trismus gibi komplikasyonların azaltılmasında, alveolar osteoit (kuru soket) tedavisinde, osteomiyelit ve loj apseleri gibi iltihabi lezyonların iyileştirilmesinde önemli katkılar sunar. Ayrıca temporomandibular eklem (TME) disfonksiyonlarında eklem içi enjeksiyonlarla ağrıyı kontrol altına alırken, çene kırıkları ve greftleme işlemleri sonrasında kemik yapımını ve iyileşmesini hızlandırır. Yumuşak ve sert doku nekrozlarında kanlanmayı ve endojen antioksidan sistemi uyararak doku onarımını tetikleyen ozon, dental implant uygulamalarında da primer stabiliteyi artırarak peri-implant hastalıklarının tedavisinde dekontaminasyon ve antienflamatuar etkileriyle başarı oranını yükseltmektedir. Toksik etkilerden kaçınmak adına teröpatik doz sınırlarında (5-60 µg/ml) ve doğru tekniklerle uygulanması gereken bu yöntem, sunduğu klinik avantajlar sayesinde modern oral cerrahi uygulamalarında her geçen gün daha geniş bir yer edinmektedir.

Ozone is a powerful antimicrobial and antioxidant agent that has been used for many years in medicine and dentistry as an alternative and complementary treatment method. The mechanism of action of this gas is based on disrupting the integrity of bacteria and viruses to prevent their reproduction, activating the immune system, reducing pain and inflammation, and increasing cellular energy circulation and tissue oxygenation. In the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, ozone therapy provides significant contributions to operating room sterilization, reducing complications such as pain, swelling, and trismus following impacted tooth extractions, treating alveolar osteitis (dry socket), and healing inflammatory lesions like osteomyelitis and lodge abscesses. Additionally, it controls pain with intra-articular injections in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunctions, while accelerating bone formation and healing after jaw fractures and grafting procedures. Stimulating blood circulation and the endogenous antioxidant system to trigger tissue repair in soft and hard tissue necrosis, ozone also increases the primary stability in dental implant applications and enhances the success rate by showing decontamination and anti-inflammatory effects in the treatment of peri-implant diseases. This method, which must be applied within therapeutic dose limits (5-60 µg/ml) and with correct techniques to avoid toxic effects, is gaining a wider place in modern oral surgery applications day by day thanks to its clinical advantages.
