This study aims to examine the multimodal literacy levels of prospective classroom teachers in terms of variables such as gender, preschool education background, grade level, parents' education levels, and daily internet usage duration. Designed in a survey model, the study group consisted of 212 prospective classroom teachers (126 female, 86 male) studying at a state university in Central Anatolia during the 2017–2018 academic year. Data were collected using a Personal Information Form and the Multimodal Literacy Scale, and analyzed via independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA. According to the research findings, statistically significant differences were determined in favor of female students in the dimensions of self-expression using multimodal structures and making sense of multimodal content, whereas male students scored significantly higher in preferring multimodal structures. Regarding grade levels, significant differences were found in favor of 1st, 2nd, and 4th-grade students compared to 3rd-grade students across sub-dimensions. In contrast, variables including preschool education attendance, maternal education, paternal education, and daily internet usage duration showed no statistically significant differences in any of the sub-dimensions. Based on the results obtained, gender-based collaborative peer support applications and specialized undergraduate or graduate training programs are recommended to enhance the multimodal literacy skills of prospective teachers.
