The institutionalization of healthcare services and its evolution into teamwork have increased the importance of ethical rules in medical processes. Negative experiences in service delivery have highlighted the need for ethical guidelines by increasing awareness of patient rights and the concept of malpractice. While morality refers to accepted norms, ethics examines the theoretical framework of these norms and standards of right and wrong through practical decision-making. Professional ethics, based on expertise and responsibility, guides moral issues in business life. Medical ethics shapes through principles like beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and confidentiality. Medical secretaries, forming the first step of healthcare, play a major role in ensuring patients have a positive experience and supporting the ethical workflow. Their responsibilities include directing to the right physician, preventing time or financial loss, complying with documentation rules, and protecting data privacy. Providing compulsory professional ethics courses in educational curricula from the associate degree level is a critical step to increase professional prestige and prevent unethical practices. Professional ethics awareness remains indispensable for protecting both healthcare professionals and patients.
